Our local Nambucca mechanic Joey Ussher has won gold in the WorldSkills National Championship at the International Convention Centre in Sydney.

Our apprentice Joey bested all other competitors in the auto electrical category, with contestants working on different cars and unusual equipment.

The competition showcases 50 categories of expertise and only 400 of the very best apprentices from all across Australia qualified for the finale.

“It was a once in a life time opportunity, to compete against the best from across Australia and to come away in first place is unbelievable,” Joey said. "I cherish the exciting opportunities and here's a massive thank you to WorldSkills Australia and my bosses Trev and Tash at TNT Auto Sparks for financially sponsoring me and supporting me over the years."
